How do i change the aspect ratio of a downloaded avi movie to burn on a dvd with the aspect ratio of 4:3?

I have downloaded a movie from limewire and it is in AVI format i tried to burn it to a dvd but when i play the movie it is centered in the middle and does not take up the entire screen. the people look skinny as if stretched out vertically. please help me. i would like to change it to widescreen or full screen.How do i change the aspect ratio of a downloaded avi movie to burn on a dvd with the aspect ratio of 4:3?use Cucusoft AVI/MPEG to DVD/VCD Converter, or ConvertXtoDVD
