How can I make my blu rays full screen?

I have a sony blu ray player hooked up to my 32%26quot; Vizio plasma and when I try to play a blu ray there are black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. I've changed the aspect ratio to 16:9 but it didn't do anything. How can I make my blu rays full screen? The content isn't 16:9, that's why it isn't filling the entire screen. Most films are shot in 1.85:1 and 2.39:1. If you are deadset on wanting to fill your screen, check to see if your Vizio has a %26quot;zoom%26quot; function. That usually will fill your screen, but portions of the image will be clipped. How can I make my blu rays full screen? You will not be able to make it a full screen on your tv screen. Is there a setting on your tv for a full screen, try it and see if it works. There are many aspect ratio in film making, and not all are 16 X 9.

Good luck. How can I make my blu rays full screen?thats how it was filmed you cant change it.How can I make my blu rays full screen?Phillips is coming out soon with a blu ray that will fill the tv screen.

As for now it's hopeless unless that zoom works that was mentioned in another post.
